Justin Quinn
Printmaker
Monday, November 7, 2005 at 5:15 p.m.
University Museum Auditorium
Justin Quinn currently lives and works in Denton, Texas where he is Assistant Professor of Printmaking at University of Northern Texas. Since 1999, Quinn's works on paper have been included in over eighty exhibitions, both national and international. Quinn's obsessive-compulsive translation of Herman Melville's Moby Dick into the letter "E" questions the very nature of artistic pursuit. He follows in the footsteps of Ahab, drawing and redrawing his charts in search of the unattainable. Through his teaching, his exhibitions, and his role as a moderator and panelist at Printmaking conferences, Quinn is an emerging figure in Printmaking. Quinn's lecture will be of relevant to anyone interested in Art, Printmaking, Book Arts, Drawing, Process Art, Systems, Art History, Literature, Typography, Design, etc.
This lecture is made possible by the Visiting Artist Program. Additional information can be attained by contacting Jason Urban, Assistant Professor/Printmaking, at urban@siu.edu.
Presented by Southern Illinois University Carbondale - School of Art & Design. All Events Listed Are Funded By the student-paid Fine Arts Activity Fee. All Events Are Free and Open to the Public.
