Jo Nast
Visiting Assistant Professor
Art History/Core Curriculum
Jo Nast is a part-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History. She received an MA in Anthropology with concentrations in Museum Studies, Art and Anthropology, and Material Culture. She is formerly a Research Project Specialist in the Office of Research Development and Administraton at SIUC and Director of the University's Undergraduate Research Program, and was the Executive Director of Development and Research at John A. Logan College. She was Curator of History at the University Museum, SIUC, from 1984-1992 with selected major exhibitions, including The Nation Bearers: Contemporary Native American Art; Architectural History of Southern Illinois; Ideas and Integrities: R. Buckminster Fuller at Southern Illinois University. Jo is also co-author of Vernacular Architecture in Southern Illinois, Southern Illinois University Press. Her research interests are Native American Art and Culture, Women’s History with an emphasis on Women in the Visual Arts, and Museum Studies. Jo teaches AD317I, Contemporary Native American Art and has taught Art 447, Introduction to Museology in Art and Design.
