Pattie Chalmers
Assistant Professor, Ceramics
Pattie Chalmers grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba; an isolated hinterland that was a fertile ground for the development her imagination. She received her BFA in printmaking from the University of Manitoba in 1993 and an MFA in ceramics from the University of Minnesota in 2001.
After finishing graduate school Chalmers taught for a year at the University of Minnesota before becoming a resident artist at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. At the completion of her residency Chalmers was selected for the position of visiting artist/professor in Ceramics at Ohio University before accepting her current position as an assistant professor of ceramics at Southern Illinois University Carbondale where she has taught since the fall of 2006.
