Sandra Charlson
Lecturer, Art History/Core Curriculum
Sandra Charlson graduated from the School of Art and Art History, University of Iowa, with an M.A. in Art History in 1988. Coming to SIUC in 1989, she teaches Pre-Columbian Art, Art of Tribal Cultures and African Art, with an emphasis on sculpture, fibers, metals and ceramics.

She has also taught courses in 19th century art, American art, ancient art, mythology in art and Introduction to Art History. Currently she is writing a course on traditional Native American art. As a part-time lecturer, Sandra devotes all of her time and research emphasis to her courses. She is interested in issues dealing with part time and term faculty. Sandra enjoys interaction with her students both in and out of the classroom. She has served on many B.F.A. and M.F.A. committees and as faculty adviser for several students in their independent study coursework.
