Students
We currently have 64 art education majors registered
in either the School of Art and Design or the College of Education.
Approximately two-thirds of our students are of typical college
age, and another third are adult learners, certification students,
and unspecified graduate students. The majority of our student
body is from metropolitan Chicago and Metro-East St. Louis,
with a sizable number from southern Illinois as well. There
are approximately two females to each male major. We currently
have students from African-American, Hispanic, and Asian communities
and welcome and encourage diversity. Our program is fully inclusive
to students experiencing disabilities, and we currently have
art education students enrolled who are working with these issues.
