Cynthia Roth is an artist, graphic designer, writer, critic, and co-owner of an art studio. She holds MFA degrees in fine art and creative writing from SIUC and her poems have appeared in several journals, including Dogwood, Mind the Gap, The Pittsburgh Quarterly, Poetry Midwest, Moxie, and the 2008 poetry anthology titled Letters to the World from Red Hen Press.
In 2003 she won an Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Poetry and studied at Bread Loaf with Linda Bierds. In 2002 she was a semifinalist in the Yale Series of Younger Poets competition and a Tennessee Williams Scholar in Poetry at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Her work has also won awards from RopeWalk, River Styx, Gulf Coast, The St. Louis Poetry Center, and a nomination for a Pushcart Prize in 2000.

Her art, which has been exhibited at the Atlanta Art Festival, the Islip Art Museum, and the Knoxville Museum of Art, primarily consists of unique books and installations incorporating her photos of rivers, sheer fabric, and typography.
